The Joint SDU-NTU Centre for Artificial Intelligence Research (C-FAIR) was launched on July 5, 2019. It was jointly established by Shandong University (SDU, China) and Nanyang Technological University (NTU, Singapore). Synergizing the strong research and education capabilities of both universities, C-FAIR focuses on the research areas of artificial intelligence fundamentals, AI+ health and aging, crowd science and smart government, block chain intelligence, cross-media intelligence, smart service applications, etc. By utilizing the "2+X" mode, C-FAIR brings together the R&D strengths of the relevant disciplines at SDU and NTU, while also involving other leading universities and top researchers from all over the world. This joint research centre aims to become a world-class platform for basic and translational research, lifelong education, talent development, and R&D commercialization.

In order to achieve the strategic goal of building a world-class research institute, C-FAIR has formulated a series of high-level talent recruitment plans. We sincerely welcome and encourage talent from all over the world to join C-FAIR so that we can create brilliance in Artificial Intelligence research together.

I. Openings

Top Talents

1Academicians, Changjiang scholars, Jie Qing and other top talents with corresponding ability in Artificial Intelligence (AI), computer science and technology, software engineering or related fields.

Young Global Experts

1Talents from National Youth Programs and other outstanding young scholars working in Artificial Intelligence (AI), computer science and technology, software engineering or related fields.

2Applicants who qualify for the official interview stage of the national youth programs, along with other outstanding young scholars, may be recommended for initial programs for young talent at Shandong University.

QILU Young Scholars

1Doctorate holders in Artificial Intelligence (AI), computer science and technology, software engineering or related fields, who are under the age of 35.

2For overseas applicants, the minimum requirement is assistant professorship at high-level universities or a corresponding position in a research institution. Those who have undergone long-term overseas academic training will also be considered.

3Applicants should have strong academic potentials and have already achieved iconic research results with significant academic influence, as well as being at the forefront of their peers in their respective research fields.

Tenure-track Faculty

1Tenure-track Professors: Scholars under the age of 40. For overseas applicants, the minimum requirement is an assistant professorship or postdoctoral position at a high-level university or a corresponding position in a research institution. For domestic applicants, the minimum requirement is a professorship at a university or research institution.

2Tenure-track Associate Professors: Scholars under the age of 35. Holders of an excellent postdoctoral or doctoral degree from a well-known university or research institution, or associate professors.

3Tenure-track Assistant Professors: Scholars under the age of 32. Holders of an excellent doctoral degree from a well-known overseas university or research institution, or a doctorate from a famous university or research institution in China, or a corresponding position in research institution.

Postdoctoral Research Fellow

1Postdoctoral research fellows in SDU are divided into three types according to different funds: special funds, key funds and project funds.

2Applicants should be PhD holders, under the age of 35 from prestigious domestic or overseas universities or research institutes, who graduated within the past three years.

3A consecutive postdoctoral research period of no less than 21 months in SDU is required.

International Faculty & Faculty from Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan

1Applicants should be under the age of 50, abide by the constitution, laws and regulations of the People’s Republic of China, and respect the habits and customs of the nation.

2Applicants should hold a doctoral degree and have related working experience. Assistant professors, or professors in higher positions associated with prestigious universities and research institutes, are preferred.

II. Remuneration and Support

Top Talent

Benefits and support are negotiable on a case-by-case basis. C-FAIR will provide a certain percentage of corresponding support.

Young Global Experts

1. Academic title: Professor and doctoral student supervisor. Exclusive doctoral and master’s admissions quotas provided.

2. The annual salary is over 500,000 RMB. C-FAIR will provide a certain percentage of corresponding support.

3. Funds for research development: about 2 to 3 million RMB, not including funding from the national government. C-FAIR will provide a certain percentage of corresponding support.

4. Housing benefits: 1.5 million RMB (including allowance from the national and provincial governments). SDU Experts’ Apartments are available at preferential rent in the previous two years. C-FAIR will also provide a certain percentage of corresponding support.

5. SDU provides high-quality healthcare and on-campus schooling for the children of successful applicants.

QILU Young Scholars

1. Academic title: Professor/Tenure-track Professors and doctoral/master student supervisor. One exclusive doctoral admission quota and at least two master’s admission quotas will be provided in the first year.

2. The annual salary is 300,000 to 400,000 RMB. C-FAIR will provide a certain percentage of corresponding support.

3. Funds for research development: no less than 1 million RMB. C-FAIR will provide a certain percentage of corresponding support.

4. Housing benefits: SDU will provide an allowance of 300,000 to 500,000 RMB. SDU Experts’ Apartments are available at preferential rent in the previous two years. C-FAIR will also provide a certain percentage of corresponding support.

5. SDU provides high-quality healthcare and on-campus schooling for the children of successful applicants.

Tenure-track Faculty

1. Competitive salary and allowance depending on contribution. C-FAIR will provide a certain percentage of corresponding support.

2. On the basis of meeting the requirements of the school to provide funding for scientific research start-up, C-FAIR will provide a certain percentage of corresponding support.

3. Housing allowance, high-quality healthcare and on-campus schooling for the children of successful applicants are provided.

Postdoctoral Research Fellow

1. The minimum funds for each postdoctoral research fellow, by fund type, are 300,000RMB/year (special funds), 200,000RMB/year (key funds), and 120,000RMB/year (project funds) respectively.

2. Social insurance and housing accumulation funds in China are provided at the same standard as for counterpart teaching faculty. Foreign postdoctoral research fellows are covered by commercial health insurance.

3. Apartments for postdoctoral research fellows near the university are available for rent.

4. High-quality healthcare and on-campus schooling are provided for the children of successful applicants working full-time at SDU.

International Faculty & Faculty from Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan

1. Competitive annual salary with paid vacations.

2. Research funding: 60,000 to 200,000 RMB for scientific researchers.

3. Furnished accommodation for rent near the school.

4. Comprehensive medical insurance or social insurance, high-quality healthcare.
